Date syrup is far healthier than sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Dates contain more polyphenols than most other fruits and vegetables. They also contain essential nutrients such as vitamin B6 and iron and are high in fibre. Dates can satisfy a person’s sweet tooth, making them a much healthier alternative to empty-calorie sweets and highly processed cakes and biscuits. You can use the luxurious Medjool dates or, the more readily available, Deglet Nour dates.
Ingredients:
• 200g Dates
• 375ml Boiling Water
• 1 tsp Lemon Juice (optional)
Method:
• Soak the dates in boiled water for 15-20 minutes.
• Add lemon juice if liked.
• Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth
• Pour into a screw top glass jar and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
Simply Date Syrup has a wonderful caramel flavour and can be used as a dip for sliced apple or pear, or in place of sugar in smoothies, pancakes, crepes, muffins, stirred into natural yoghurt, topping for ice cream or … whatever floats your boat.
Enjoy and be proud!
